A full month to be exact and boy, what a 4 weeks this has been! Cliff Notes version: stomach flu which was NOT of the 24-48 hour kind; a serious flare-up of my GI issues which still has not resolved completely; the dreaded call back after my mammogram in January, subsequent biopsy (all clear!) and some minor complications from that. Whew.
But, I’m still here alive and kicking and trying to get back on track with my fitness and health goals. I have to say I’m excited to get back to the gym today but a bit frightened as its been a whole month (!!) and I’m still sore from the biopsy last week. But I’m gonna go and give it a try today.
I’m still planning on finishing out the Spring Chick Challenge. Here’s where I stand with my original goals:
Non-scale victory
- Other than a serious spike while at the doctors office last week (complete “white coat” syndrome) my blood pressure is still good. Took it this morning and had 117/85.
- I’m heading toward my size 14 a bit more quickly than I would like. The stomach bug and and subsequent not-eating-because-everything-makes-my-stomach-hurt GI issue for a solid 2 weeks netted me a 8 lb weight loss. Not healthy! However, the size 16′s are a bit roomy.
Nutrition
- I’m still using MyFitnessPal pretty faithfully (even when I was sick). If you follow me over there ignore my daily notes. Using the site to track reactions to certain foods. After some evaluation, I’m bringing my calories back up to 1500 a day.
- Getting my water in has been a bit problematic. The tummy troubles aren’t playing well with water consumption (??!!) but I’m trying to get as much in as possible. I’m hoping getting back to working out will help.
Exercise
- Exercise goals are the same and will get back to that schedule this week!
Blogging & Support
- Excited to get back to my blog posting & reading!
I have to go into the day job today to make up for missed work this past week (boo!) and I have to get some studying done for my academic classes I’m taking this semester (double boo!), so I probably won’t be back around until mid-week. Have a great Sunday y’all!





Sorry you’ve been ill, but I’m glad to hear you’re finishing the challenge.
Wowza! I’m so glad you’re better now! What a ton to go through- especially the mammogram scare! Very happy that you got an all clear!
Sorry to hear you’ve been so ill – losing 8 pounds due to being sick isn’t fun.
